Watershed Development Programme CSR Audit — Madhya Pradesh & Maharashtra

The Challenge

The Watershed Organisation Trust (WOTR), one of India’s leading watershed development organisations, required an independent CSR audit of their watershed development projects in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. The audit needed to verify programme outcomes against CSR objectives, assess compliance with statutory requirements, and evaluate the sustainability of watershed interventions.

Our Approach

  • On-site verification of watershed structures and their maintenance status
  • Community interview protocol covering beneficiary satisfaction, livelihood impact, and institutional sustainability
  • Financial expenditure verification against CSR budgets and Schedule VII categorisation
  • Impact assessment covering water availability, crop yield improvements, and migration reduction

Outcome

The CSR audit confirmed programme compliance and documented measurable impact on water availability, agricultural productivity, and rural livelihood diversification across both states. Recommendations for strengthening monitoring frameworks and community institution capacity were accepted and incorporated into subsequent programme design.
