Anti-Greenwashing Regulation

Reporting & Disclosure
Anti-greenwashing regulation encompasses laws and rules designed to prevent misleading environmental claims. Key regulations include the UK FCA Anti-Greenwashing Rule (November 2024), EU Green Claims Directive (proposed), Australian ASIC enforcement actions, and US SEC climate disclosure rules. These require that sustainability claims be substantiated, specific, fair, and not misleading. Companies face enforcement action, fines, and litigation for unsubstantiated green claims. Third-party verification and assurance are key defences.
