EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility)

Environmental Management
Extended Producer Responsibility is a policy approach that makes producers responsible for the environmental impact of their products throughout the product lifecycle, including post-consumer waste management. In India, EPR applies to plastic packaging, e-waste (WEEE), batteries, used oil, and tyres. Producers must register on centralised portals, meet collection and recycling targets, and submit annual returns. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) oversees EPR compliance. Non-compliance risks include environmental compensation orders.
