Scope 2 Emissions
Carbon & ClimateScope 2 emissions are indirect greenhouse gas emissions from purchased electricity, steam, heating, and cooling consumed by an organisation. They are reported using two methods: location-based (grid average emission factors) and market-based (specific supplier/contractual instruments like RECs, PPAs, or green tariffs). Scope 2 often represents the largest emission source for service-sector companies and is a key lever for decarbonisation through renewable energy procurement.
